Why am I asking for jokes and recipes?

In these politically correct times, jokes are becoming a thing of the past.  I want to collect as many jokes as possible as a kind of 'snapshot' of our times.  I also would like funny or ironic pictures, drawings and the like.

These jokes do not have to be politically correct, sanitized or inoffensive.  At some point I will publish these jokes online and will not publish the name of the contributor (unless you want credit.)  If you know of any joke mailing lists, please sign me up using tennesseebill.com@gmail.com as the address. 

These jokes do not have to be in ENGLISH.  They can pertain to any subject matter.

I also would like recipes from all cultures and countries.  Please include your name along with the recipe if you would like credit for it... or the source, if you know where you got it.  Include any information as to the traditions of the recipe... do you have a family, cultural, or religious tradition attached to the recipe?  If you do, I would like to know.  If you publish a cook book or any other media that this recipe is included in, you may include links to where it may be purchased.

Please list the category, culture and tradition (if any) that the recipe pertains to... example 'main dish', 'Jewish', 'Passover'  If you have pictures, please attach them!

These recipes will also be published online at some time, and I will place a link on this site to them.  It is also possible that the recipes (and jokes) will be published in a printed form.  By submitting them, you are granting me permission to republish them in any form.

It is possible, that in the future, I'll have some forum to vote on the recipes.  It is possible that in the future, there will be some sponsors that will provide prizes to give to various winners in different categories.  It is early in the project (2/09) to predict what the response will be or what direction this will take.  This website is barely over 1 month old and the response to the old time radio shows has been tremendous.  I have no idea how many people will submit recipes and jokes to me, so I can't predict what direction this project will take.

I will not publish the names of the people submitting jokes, unless you ask me to.  I will publish the names and home towns (and countries, if outside the US) of the people contributing recipes, unless you ask me not to.

remember, as for the jokes, I'm looking for quantity!  I don't want them sanitized.  I want them to be a true snapshot of today's culture. 

And as for the recipes... Please make sure you have tried them!  They don't have to be fancy or elaborate.  They can be something obvious and easy or complicated (cookies and milk with your kids... mixing fruit flavors into plain yoghurt... your secret to the perfect burger... your secret formula that tastes like bailey's (yum!). The perfect grilled cheese, Elk sausage.
